The stage
is being set for the upcoming India vs Australia T20I in the city. Slated to be
played on 24 February, the game will be flagging off the bilateral series
between the two countries. Apart from making arrangements at ACA VDCA
International Cricket Stadium in the city, the authorities have also been
focussing on tightening the security in Vizag ahead of the game this weekend.
Arun Kumar of Andhra Cricket Association conducted a special
meeting with police officials of the city at the stadium on Monday. Speaking at
the meeting, he discussed the measures to be taken to ensure the safety of the
cricketers. Reportedly, discussions were also made with
traffic police to take care of the parking woes that are generally encountered
during an international match at the stadium.
It may be noted that the second India vs Australia T20I will be
held on 27 February in Bengaluru. Later, the two teams will lock horns in a
5-match ODI series. Hyderabad, Nagpur, Ranchi, Mohali, and Delhi will be
hosting the ODIs.
The tickets for the T20I in Vizag have been priced at Rs 500, Rs 1200, Rs 1600,
Rs 2000, Rs 4000 and Rs 5000. India last played an international match in
Visakhapatnam in October last year when they took on West Indies. Not only did
the game witness Virat Kohli go past 10,000 runs in ODI
cricket but also ended in a tie, giving the fans a bang for their buck.
